If you are gadget-savvy and have kept up to date on the marketing, you'll have a good idea of what an iPad offers. If you've seen people with iPads, then you know that it can be a lot of fun, with all its games and entertainment features. If you're new to the iPad, then read on to find out more about this gadget.

An iPad is described a gadget that combines the iPhone and a netbook. It's smaller than a netbook, and can be used to browse the internet, send and receive emails, watch movies, listen to music, and so on. The large touch screen (almost the size of standard printing paper) is more user-friendly than the smaller screen of an iPhone.

The iPad2 has added some features that were absent in the first version. The newer version includes a camera - two in fact - offering photo and video capabilities. With Face Time, you can video call with VOIP. Printing over WiFi is now possible, too.

iPad 2 also enables you to multitask. The iPad1 could not run more than one application at a time - the newer version can. The iPad can connect through WiFi or 3G to the internet. There is no facility to connect via a cable. iPads all come with Bluetooth.

As with the iPhone, there are built-in applications (apps) that come standard with the iPad. These applications include Mail, Safari, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, YouTube, Maps, iTunes, iPod, and many more. Other apps are available in the Apple Store - there are 150 000 iPhone apps, most of which are available for the iPad as well.

iPads are also more convenient to carry around than netbooks, and the iPad2 is even thinner and lighter than the first version. You can surf the web, email, read books, play games, and watch movies. You can get apps like Pages and Numbers to create documents and spreadsheets, and there are so many other specialized apps available.

You could also buy a physical keyboard which comes with a stand and a charging dock, s the iPad can be used like a desktop computer. Although the iPad features a large touch screen keyboard, the physical keyboard will be useful for those who do a lot of writing and typing.

The iPad is more than just a gimmick. It is a useful tool for users who need to keep track of their lives while on the go. The games and entertainment features may not appeal to business users, but the kids will certainly love them.
